The Ngerian music industry has once more been thrown into a sad state as the death og former Big Brother Africa contestnt and award winning Nigerian singer Goldie Harvey has been confirmed dead shortly after she and her Kennis Music label mates and boss visited the Unites States of America  for the 55th Grammy Awards .Just got a call from her best friend and my close friend, Denrele Edun. He said Goldie died a few minutes ago in his arms at Reddington Hospital in Victoria Island. Goldie just came back from the US today he said, and was so full of life, then something went tragically wrong. Will get all the details from him in a bit, he had to switch off his phone. I'm shaking so bad. May her soul rest in peace..amen.

Queen Elizabeth II To Wed Her Longtime Female Partner

SMH: Mother Reports Murder of Her 20-Year Old Son By His Room Mates on Facebook

A Mother, Ngozi Awa has reported on her Facebook page that her son, Obinna Okereke Awa, a 20-year old student of Abia State University is dead.

Here is what she wrote; I have just been informed that my second son, Obinna Okereke Awa is dead. He was lured and killed and buried, exactly two weeks today by his course mates and room mates, flanking him here, Edwin Ogbonna and Ikechukwu Uka. All fourth year Law students of Abia State University.
They feigned ignorance of his whereabouts until yesterday.

My son was to be 21 years come May 7th, 2013. May God be magnified! - Mrs Ngozi Awa.

She also wrote this on her page in pains;

Penis Snake Discovered In Brazil

A group of engineers building a dam in the Amazon recently discovered an Atretochoana eiseltiis, better known as a caecilian, which some people might know as a limbless amphibian, but, let’s be honest, the creature pictured above is a penis snake.

Monga Bay reports that the strange creature was discovered while the Madeira River was being drained as part of a damn building project in Brazil’s Madeira River. Biologist Julian Tupan said that six penis snakes were found at the bottom of the river.
Tupan said:

“Of the six we collected, one died, three were released back into the wild and another two were kept for studies. Despite looking like snakes, they aren’t reptiles and are more closely related to salamanders and frogs. We think the animal breathes through its skin, and probably feeds on small fish and worms, but there is still nothing proven.The Amazon is a box of surprises when it comes to reptiles and amphibians. There are still much more to be discovered.”

The Digital Journal notes that the discovery was made last November but it was only announced this week after biologist deemed that it was a new species.
Informally, the new Amazon River dweller is being called a “floppy snake,” but media outlets are having a little fun coming up with names like penis snake and man-aconda.

7 boys gang-molest girl, 15, in Rivers . . . Suspects arrested

A 15-year-old girl is lying critically ill in an undisclosed hospital in Port Harcourt after she was allegedly gang-molestd. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening in Rumuodumaya in Obio/Akpo Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Already, no fewer than seven boys said to be in their early 20s have been rounded up by the Police in connection with the incident.
 It was gathered that the girl (name withheld) had gone to the nearby Rumuokoro market to make some purchases in the evening of the fateful day.

On her way home, she was allegedly abducted by some boys and taken to their hideout located inside the Rumuokoro slaughter area where she was molestd. Daily Sun revealed that when the girl did not return that night, her parents raised alarm and reported her sudden disappearance to the police. Thereafter, a search party was organized and the girl was found unconscious at the Slaughter area said to be a notorious den for hemp smokers and criminals.

It was in the course of preliminary investigation after she was revived that the suspects were rounded up with the help of some community boys and taken to the Rumuodumaya Police Station. When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Mr. Benjamin Ugwuegbulam (DSP) confirmed the incident.

He told Daily Sun that “some arrests have been made” and investigation is in progress. Reacting to the incident, the Director of a Non-Governmental Organization, Human Rights, Social Development and Environmental Foundation (HURSDEF), Comrade Justine Ijeomah decried the rising cases of molest in the society.

Comrade Ijeomah whose organization has been handling many molest cases involving under-aged girls called for stiffer penalties for proven offenders to serve as a deterrent to others.

11-yr Old Girl Gets Pregnant For Five Boys

It was a shocking story to the parents and neighbours of an 11 year old girl and pupil of Ikorenim Primary School in Calabar, Cross River State, Ekamen  Asuquo, when a pregnancy test that was conducted on her at the General Hospital, Calabar revealed that she was carrying a four-month pregnancy.


The mother of the primary five pupil, who resides at 2, Pipeline Road, Ikorenim had suspected pregnancy, going by the symptoms exhibited by the teenage girl, who was sick for a while as she decided to take her to the hospital after she failed to get well, despite long period of self medication.

The mother was rattled when it was discovered that the girl was pregnant after some tests.

A neighbour, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said “She has been at home for the past two months always complaining of one ailment or the other and the mother had to take her to the General Hospital after home medication could not heal her in the hope that she could be treated there.”

The neighbour, said when the teenage girl was confronted by her mother, who allegedly sells hot drinks and illicit drugs over who was responsible for the pregnancy, she mentioned one Tony, one of the boys that patronises her mother’s hot drinking joint.

However, the source hinted that when Tony was confronted, he said “He was the one who dated the teenage girl first but another customer, Jones snatched her from him and when Jones was confronted, he said he had since stopped dating the girl and mentioned another person, who when also confronted, mentioned another boy and at the last count, the number was five.”

It was gathered that the mother was infuriated when her daughter confirmed that she slept with all the boys mentioned and could not actually tell who was responsible. It was also gathered that two of the boys mentioned were tenants living in the woman’s house.

Out of annoyance, “She has since asked the two young men living in her house to quit but they are asking for time to secure another accommodation before they can vacate the house.”

When the distraught mother was asked what she was going to do with the daughter’s predicament, tears rolled down her cheek, as she said “I leave everything to God.”

When the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr John Umoh, was contacted, he said the incident had not been reported to the police.

Britain to allow gay marriages in churches

LONDON (AFP) – Britain will announce plans next week to allow gay marriages in churches and other religious buildings, officials said Friday, although Prime Minister David Cameron insisted no faith group would be forced to hold them.

Culture Secretary Maria Miller will unveil ministers’ responses to a consultation earlier this year, which will propose that religious organisations should be able to ‘opt-in’ to hold same-sex weddings, according to a government source.

Amid strong opposition from the Church of England and Roman Catholics, however, as well as many members of Cameron’s Conservative party, Miller will stress that no religious groups will be forced to conduct gay weddings.

Speaking to reporters on a visit to a car factory, Cameron said: “I’m a massive supporter of marriage and I don’t want gay people to be excluded from a great institution.

“But let me be absolutely 100 percent clear, if there is any church or any synagogue or any mosque that doesn’t want to have a gay marriage it will not, absolutely must not, be forced to hold it.

“That is absolutely clear in the legislation.

“Also let me make clear, this is a free vote for members of Parliament but personally I will be supporting it.”

Gay couples have had the right to hold a civil partnership since 2004 but campaigners have pushed for full equality with heterosexual couples.

In its submission to the public consultation in June, the Church of England said legalising gay marriage could force it out of its traditional role of conducting weddings on behalf of the state.

However the Quakers welcomed Friday’s news, saying they had been campaigning since 2009 for all marriages in Quaker meeting houses to be legally valid.

“We are waiting for the law to catch up,” said recording clerk Paul Parker, adding: “For Quakers, this is an issue of religious freedom and we don’t seek to impose this on others.”

A government spokesman said: “The government is committed to bringing equal civil marriage forward and the consultation results will be announced next week.

“We are very clear that religious organisations must be protected and that no religious organisation will be forced to conduct same-sex marriage ceremonies.

“The European Convention on Human Rights guarantees freedom of religion and we will additionally bring in very strong legal locks to ensure the protection is watertight.”
