Border Patrol agent kills mother of five
Valeria "Monique" Alvarado
| Chula Vista, California October 2, 2012 In Chula Vista, California, a US Customs and Border Protection agent has shot and killed a 32-year-old mother of five after her car allegedly bumped into the man. At 13h00 on Friday, Valeria "Monique" Alvarado was killed on a residential street in Chula Vista, California. Border Patrol officials are claiming that the woman "assaulted" the officer by running him down with her vehicle. CBP Chief Patrol Agent Rodney Scott told NBC, “The suspect was armed with a vehicle, and literally ran our agent down.” “He was carried several hundred yards before he discharged his weapon through the windshield of the vehicle,” he added The on-duty agent was apparently responding to a felony warrant in the area, which was unrelated to Alvarado. According to Border Patrol officials, the agent landed on the hood of the car after being struck. However, multiple witnesses told reporters that they never saw the man on the car. Apparently as the agent opened fire on the woman at least six times, Alvarado reversed in an attempt to get away from the officer's gunfire. The agent was reportedly dressed in plain clothes and was not displaying a badge. |
